Happy Bloody Birthday to ME!
I’ve wanted to adorn my big Sicilian schnozz for a long, long time. I finally decided I was going to just go for it… what the hell, I’m 45… no time like the present! Thank You, Sir SkipDog for a fabulous experience! And thank you, Karen, for being such a good slave and taking excellent pictures of this momentous event.
Other gifts included a bottle of the best mead I’ve ever tasted, and a beautiful sculpted metal crossed-cutlass Jolly Roger tile from my dear friend and fellow pirate, Robin St. Graves of Medieval Fantasies. My life is filled with such talented artists and craftsmen… and it’s a good thing, since my own artistic talent is limited to singing, and maybe this writing thing that I enjoy so much but don’t do nearly enough of.
Special appreciation to my sister, Liz, dear hubby, Rob and the rest of my family who made my birthday so great by helping get the joint cleaned up, kept my glass (and my belly!) filled, and kept me laughing even while getting skewered by our friendly local Sadist.

Christopher Hitchens on Jerry Falwell
Mr. Hitchens and I disagree on the Iraq War, but he’s spot on when it comes to religious fundamentalism in general, and Falwell in particular. Those of us who are old enough to have lived through his rise to power have always seen him as the enemy of liberty he truly was.
Condolences to Mr. Falwell’s family, but it would be dishonest for me not to bid good riddance to one of the people who would turn America into Jesusland with the complicity of his congregation and his political influence at every level of government.
It’ll be interesting to see how the good Reverend is memorialized in various media outlets, that’s for damned sure!

Oh, and Kathie Mullen drew a fabulous cartoon in Jerry’s honor, and she’s given me permission to post a copy here. Damn, I envy people with artistic talent! Enjoy!

Who knew “hitting bottom” could be a good thing?
Atlanta Public Access TV show
If I were queen of America, this video would be shown in Sex Ed! And on a lighter note, kudos to the men over the years who’ve hit bottom with me… I (and my rabbit) salute you…

“American Cannibal”: Myspace featured film - see it!
Myspace is featuring ”American Cannibal” today, and I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up to go and check it out. If it’s not playing in your neighborhood, start calling your local indie theatres and tell them to get it!
In the interest of full disclosure, the… uh… anti-hero of the film, a guy known as ”KB," is a close friend of mine (so close, in fact, that he & his brother ”D-Money” are in my Top 4, right between my hubby and my mommy!). So in part I’m pimpin’ the flick for my bro.

Regardless, the movie’s simply a must-see! Whether you’re an industry insider or haven’t the faintest idea how a film or tv show goes from inside someone’s head onto a screen, you’ll find moments of shock, amazement and downright hilarity following the lives of people involved in the production of a reality show, and the lengths people will go to for fortune and fame (or notoriety, at the very least!).If you can’t see it on the big screen, get it on DVD as soon as you can! Word has it that a bunch of great stuff didn’t make the final cut.
I can only imagine...
